RSIPF officers investigates fatal road accident

Police at Kirakira are investigating a fatal road accident that took a life of a 30-year-old male person at Tahitarau logging road, Central Makira, Makira Ulawa Province on 29 June 2024.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai explain, “The deceased and nine male adults boarded a vehicle heading to the Tahitarau logging area to load sawn timbers. On their way back the driver (deceased) lost control of the vehicle as they went down the sloppy road, the vehicle overturned.”

PPC Sitai says, “The driver was badly injured and unfortunately died at the scene, other five passengers had sustained major injuries and are admitted at Kirakira hospital, while other four passengers managed to escape unhurt.”

PPC Sitai says, “Upon receiving the report Police managed to attend to the scene and conduct initial investigation.”

PPC call on relatives to remain calm as police continue on with investigation into the cause of the incident.

Police appeals to anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist police with investigation.

All vehicle owners and drivers who are providing services to the public must ensure your vehicles are road worthy and comply to traffic laws to avoid such incidences from happening.
