Police arrest a suspect in his 20s for the allegation of murder in Honiara

A suspect in his 20s has been arrested for the allegation of murder after a stabbing incident at Gilbert camp area early this week.

It was alleged that the suspect stabbed the deceased with a short knife on his neck after an argument broke out between them. The motive behind the stabbing incident is still under police investigation.

The deceased, who was in his 30s, was rushed to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) and pronounced dead by the medical authorities.

The National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are currently investigating the alleged murdered incident.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence, Ms. Patrecia Leta says, “Police are appealing to relatives and friends of the other suspect in the same murder incident to surrender to police for his safety.

AC Leta says. “I appeal to both parties not to take the laws into your own hands as the matter is now with the police and also appeal to the public to support police with any information you know regarding the murder incident.”

The RSIPF shared condolences with the grieving family, friends and relatives of the deceased for the great loss of their loved one.
