RSIPF received forensic equipment, consumables from RAPPP

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has received vital forensic equipment and consumables from the RSIPF-AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP).

These equipment and consumables will help boost the RSIPF forensic capability.

Forensic examinations play a vital role in policing as criminal operations become more sophisticated and extend beyond the country’s borders.

RSIPF forensic officers are trained and experienced in specialist technical capabilities to respond to incidents impacting Solomon Islanders locally, nationally and internationally.

Digital forensics is a technical capability involving the examination of electronic devices. It is constantly evolving, requiring specialist equipment and technical expertise.

Since the RSIPF established its digital forensic capability in 2021, it has taken a lead role in capability development throughout the Pacific region. The RSIPF has partnered with the AFP to tackle the threat of crime in the region.

Recently, a visiting AFP Commander Pacific, Phillippa Connell, handed over the equipment and consumables to the RSIPF in a ceremony attended by the RSIPF Commissioner, Mostyn Mangau, and members of his executive.

Commissioner Mangau thanked the AFP and RSIPF Forensic officers for their commitment and dedication in the detection and collection of vital evidence in the fight against crime.

He urged Forensic officers to work with their Pacific forensic partners to ensure they stay ahead of the crime trends.

AFP Commander Pacific Connell said the items gifted will ensure RSIPF remain a leading Policing organisation within the Pacific.

“In strengthening the operational response to criminal activity, RSIPF are enhancing their services to the community, building public trust and contributing to a safe, secure and peaceful Solomon Islands”, Connell said.

The RSIPF forensic team are highly trained and dedicated officers, committed to serving the people of Solomon Islands.

Along with the forensic equipment and consumables gifted was a team Bula shirt which forensic team members have embraced.

Forensic Officer In-Charge, Garnette Kwanairara Jnr, thanked RAPPP for the gifted outfit, saying the vibrant colors and designs of the Bula shirts have raised a sense of unity and team spirit among their team.

“Wearing matching attire can enhance morale and create a more unified working environment founded on a sense of true friendship and respect and more importantly strengthening collaborative efforts in our service delivery”, Kwanairara Jnr said.
