Police assured schools of safety
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is assuring schools that they are safe amidst reports of abduction and kidnapping in Honiara.
RSIPF Commissioner, Mostyn Mangau, said police is monitoring the current situation closely.
Commissioner Mangau said school authorities may set precautionary measures for the safety of their students but from a police security perspective, general security in town is under control and public should go about their normal business.
He said the RSIPF is investigating this issue and operations to track those who tries to spread fear on the ground and online has already started.
Commissioner Mangau said it is sad that such threats are affecting schools that are only there to educate our young people.
He appealed to members of the public to help provide information relating to these alleged abductions and kidnappings to the RSIPF that will help police to be able to identify and hold them accountable.
Commissioner Mangau said going to social media with information will do little to help public’s security concerns but rather spread more fears.
