Police arrest four suspects for stealing building materials for Kilufii hospital incinerator
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Auki police station have arrested four suspects in their 20s for stealing building materials from the newly built incinerator at Kilufii hospital on 28 October 2024.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa said the total cost of the materials stolen is about SBD $10,000.00 dollars.
Chief Superintendent Tafoa said police investigation reveals that this is not the first time these suspects have done such activity which really is a sad incident where such a place we should highly respect it.
Mr. Tafoa said, Auki police are currently investigating the matter. I am appealing to those who may know about any information to come forward and assist police with its investigation.
The four suspects had been charged for simple larceny contrary to section 261 of the penal code and released on bail to appear before the Auki Magistrates’ Court on 5 November 2024.
The provincial chief had appealed to the community at Kilufii medical area and surrounding communities to take care of such development. This incinerator is part of the hospital development which is vital for Kilufii hospital to manage wastes.
“This is a funded project for our hospital. we must take care of such very important institutions who take care of our medical health,” Tafoa said.
