Three suspects have been convicted during a court circuit hearing at Malu’u substation in north Malaita, while four suspects are on trial for the next court circuit hearing.

A total of seven cases were on trial from 20 to 24 October 2024 during the Auki Principal Magistrates’ Court visit at Malu’u substation.

Of the three convicted, one fine, and a case withdrawn due to time limitation. A total of four cases are still on trial for the next court circuit hearing.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa, thanked the Auki police prosecutions and the Auki Magistrates’ Court for their efforts in facilitating the court circuit in North Malaita.

PPC Tafoa said this is a significant achievement, especially for the Northern region of Malaita. The Maka substation on the southern region of Malaita will be the next court proceeding.

The provincial police chief said, “I am pleased to see the law present in our communities and justice being served.”
