Buala police is calling on those who intend to operate bottle shops in the province to obtain a liquor license from the Isabel Provincial Government Revenue Payment Unit (IPGRPU) through its application process before operation.

The Provincial Police Commander (PPC) of Isabel Province, Inspector Harry Vanosi, said the call has come about when a huge amount of beer has been confiscated recently at Buala wharf by police officers after they checked that the owners have no license to operate in the province.

PPC Vanosi said the owner of the beers learnt that police confiscated their beers; they quickly liaise with the IPGRPU and solve the matter. This is a wake-up call for those intended to operate or sell beer in the province to obtain a liquor license from the IPGRPU.

Inspector Vanosi said, “I am urging communities in Isabel Province who have information about people who sell liquor without a valid license to supply information to police. Police is aiming at reducing people who sell liquor without a valid license in preparation for the upcoming Christmas season.”

Mr. Vanosi said, “The so-called ‘black markets’ of beer really disturb other valid license holders who operate liquor shops in Isabel province. Police and provincial government will work collaboratively to deal with the matter of unlicensed beer vendors in the province.
