Two SIPSP advisors welcomed recently

The New Zealand Police have deployed two new advisors to the Solomon Islands under the Solomon Islands Police Support Programme (SIPSP) recently and will be here for a year.

The advisors will work alongside our RSIPF colleagues as part of the National Crime Prevention Department.

The NZ advisors support and assist the RSIPF staff with all aspects of training and crime prevention initiatives to reduce harm and victimisation in the community.

Senior Sergeant Beth Purcell is from Levin in New Zealand and specializes in community and prevention work with her community.

Senior Sergeant Beth Purcell says, “This is an absolute privilege to be here in the Solomon Islands. I hope that I can bring some value to Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) colleagues.”

I know that I will do a lot of self-learning and self-development while I am here and take these home with me. This is a great opportunity, and I look forward to the next 12 months here in the Happy Isles.

Detective Sergeant (Sgt) Phil Taylor is from Auckland, New Zealand, and specializes in asset recovery and finances.

“I am absolutely looking forward to a fantastic 12 months," said Sgt. Taylor.

Detective Taylor said, "As a police officer with over 30 years of policing experience, I am looking to pass on those experiences with my new colleagues and to both receive learnings from this new environment and opportunity. This is a great opportunity that I’d like to grab with both hands.”
