RSIPF Support Fund received 150k from Chinese Embassy
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Support Fund (SF) has received a donation of $SBD150,000.00 from the Chinese Embassy in Honiara.
The RSIPF’s SF was established with the hope of providing support to police officers and their families during challenging times.
RSIPF’s Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operations Support (NSOS), Mr. Ian Vaevaso, together with the RSIPF executive and China Police Liaison Team (CPLT), attended the handover ceremony at Rove Police Headquarters recently.
DC Vaevaso appreciated the historical and special support. The received fund will help reduce officers’ stress when they are faced with personal circumstances and significant events of life.
Mr. Vaevaso said the support is unique because it will bring greater joy and much relief to police officers and their families. He acknowledged the PRC’s ongoing and honest contribution.
“This support is one of the many supports RSIPF has received from the PRC. It is a testimony of PRC’s genuine relationship with Solomon Islands (SI). We will build our bilateral cooperation and partnership meaningfully and grow it from strength to strength,” Vaevaso said.
He also clarified that the administrative procedures in ensuring the RSIPF’s SF will be fairly administered according to the policy of the RSIPF for transparency and accountability.
Minister-Counsellor Ding said during the donation ceremony that the purpose of the Chinese Embassy to support the RSIPF SF is to express our gratitude and respect to the professional and dedicated RSIPF officers.
We hope, through this fund, we can lend a helping hand to individual officers who are in temporary need or distress and through difficulties.
Minister-Counsellor Ding said the donation to the RSIPF SF is a small chapter in a larger picture of police cooperation between China and SI. He emphasised the openness and inclusiveness of the cooperation between the two countries and assured us that he would provide more assistance to support capacity building of RSIPF.
CPLT Commissioner Liu reiterated the commitment to strengthen the friendship and brotherhood with RSIPF and expressed deep care for the well-being of diligent and hard-working officers. CPLT will continue to work closely with you to ensure the sustainability of this initiative and to deliver tangible benefits to you—guardians of the nation’s security future.
