Police in Auki have arrested a suspect who cut a victim in his 20s with a bush knife early this morning at Maofa village in West Kwara’ae, Malaita Province.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa, said it was alleged that the suspect entered the victim’s house and attacked him several times with a bush knife.

PPC Tafoa said the victim was asleep at the time of the incident, woke up when the suspect broke the door and entered the house. The victim tries to defend himself but is unable to withstand the attack.

Chief Superintendent Tafoa said the victim is in stable condition but under the care of medical authorities at Kilufii Hospital for treatment.

“I appeal to the people of Maofa village to refrain from further retaliation and allow police to deal with the matter,” said PPC Tafoa.
