RSIPF Welcomed 70 New Recruits

RAPPP refurbished and delivered kitchen appliances to the RSIPF Mess. New recruits will take advantage of this support

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has welcomed 70 new recruits to the force. The recruits were formally welcomed during a ceremony held at the RSIPF headquarters at Rove yesterday (24th February 2025).

RSIPF Commissioner, Mostyn Mangau, Australian Federal Police (AFP) Commander Solomon Islands, Heath Davies, the recruit course’s patron and Guest of Honour, Ms. Ruth Liloqula, RSIPF Senior Executive and members and RSIPF and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) Executive and Advisors, also participated in the ceremony.

The 70 recruits of male and female individuals represent the different provinces across Solomon Islands. The opening ceremony marks the start of a 18 -week journey for the new recruits to becoming police constables.

In the coming weeks, the recruits will be subjected to intensive physical and mental tests challenging them to commit their time and effort to becoming police officers.

The new recruits will be required to work hard and participate fully in class and outdoor activities to meet competency standard required of the training course. They will also undergo written and practical assessments.

RSIPF Police Academy Director, James Teilo, confirmed these tests are part of the RSIPF recruitment training program.

Teilo acknowledged the AFP, through RAPPP, for its support to their recruitment program saying this not the first time RAPPP supported their recruitment programs.

He said RAPPP has been supporting their recruitment programs through provision of foods, reading materials, t-shirts, washing machines, laptop and computers, uniform parts and sportswear for female recruits.

RAPPP also supported critical areas to RSIPF recruitment programs including refurbishing and re-opening the Police Mess where recruits will have their meals throughout the duration of the recruitment training, enabling an English grammar course to be delivered to recruits, resourcing and opening a library at the RSIPF Academy where recruits can do their study and research, supporting the delivery of bible sessions for recruits, equipping and staffing the RSIPF gym where recruits will do their cardio exercises and get healthy diets advices.

Director Teilo said the range of support delivered by RAPPP to the RSIPF has provided a good experience for their recruits.

Commander Davies said the AFP is always proud to partner with the RSIPF to support the growth of the RSIPF and support delivery of RSIPF operational priorities.

The recruits are expected to graduate around the end of June.
