As part of their preparations for the upcoming festive season, Police officers at the KiraKira Police Station, in the Makira-Ulawa Province visited remote villages at Marou Bay, in the Arosi 2 District 14 – 17 November to hold awareness talks on Family Protection, the Liquor and Dangerous Drugs Acts.
“During the operations, code named, ‘Mekem Pipol Save Moa long Law’ my officers visited five villages in the Arosi 2 District including Ahia, Tawaiabu, Taramatanga, Wairiri and Harenia,” says Provincial Police Commander, Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai.
Superintendent Sitai adds: “Not only that we did awareness talks, but we also attended to reported cases and investigations. During the trip we also made several arrests so it was a success for us as we continue to serve the people and communities.”
“People in the communities were happy to see Police officers visiting them and with the awareness conducted they are more confident as their doubts about the legislations are cleared. There were a lot of positive feedback to the program,” says Superintendent Sitai
The Makira-Ulawa PPC also commends his officers for their commitment which resulted in a successful operation.
