RSIPF and CPLT team visit to Malaita Province

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) conducted a comprehensive policing cooperate program in Malaita Province last week.

The initiative focused mainly in Community policing, Criminal Investigation, and Law Enforcement skills training that has been delivered to the RSIPF and the Correctional Service of Solomon Islands (CSSI) officers in Malaita Province to improve their capabilities in their areas of policing.

The program included advanced training in forensic investigation techniques, covering DNA evidence analysis, crime scene management, cybercrime detection, and narcotics cases. Tactical sessions focused on defensive tactics, equipment handling, and command and control, benefiting 18 RSIPF and correctional officers through scenario-based drills.

The joint team delivered community policing seminars and donated solar lighting equipment, and sports supplies in several communities, including the remote SASAFA, where they enduring a four-hour drive and two hour-long trek to reach and donated uniforms to the community crime prevention Team.

CPLT engaged in visiting several schools and deliver safety workshops to students and teachers. The team donated educational supplies, solar lamps, and sporting equipment’s while sharing insights on crime prevention and self-protection. School representatives thanked the CPLT for its educational contributions.

The team even visited the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) co-hosted a security awareness seminar at the Malaita Police Headquarters. CCECC representatives briefed local crime prevention committees on the project’s benefits, urging community support to ensure its success.

This initiative underscores the deepening Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between China and Solomon Islands. By sharing China’s grassroots governance expertise, the CPLT has provided actionable insights for community development in the Solomon Islands while enhancing local policing capabilities. Cultural exchanges have further strengthened people-to-people bonds.

Malaita Provincial Premier Asilaua commended the CPLT’s professionalism and expressed interest in expanded collaboration. SASAFA residents hailed the team’s historic visit and material support as pivotal for community safety.

At the launch ceremony of the training program, CPLT Commissioner Liu Shenghuang emphasized that the initiative reflects the shared commitment of China and Solomon Islands to deepen security cooperation and build a community with a shared future. "Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the police departments of both nations have overcome challenges through mutual respect and understanding, achieving remarkable progress in multiple fields."

Commissioner Shenghuag said, "This program marks a new milestone in our security partnership. The CPLT remains dedicated to the principles of "professionalism, efficiency, and friendliness" and "openness, transparency, and goodwill," working alongside Solomon Islands to establish a model of security governance in the South Pacific that benefits all citizens,"
