Police in Auki, in the Malaita Province today, 21 November 2017 arrested a 40 year-old male at Auki market for the alleged sale of the drug marijuana.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent, Timothy Apaesi says, “My officers responded to the incident after gathering information from a member of the public that a man was selling marijuana at the Auki Market area.”
“I am pleased with the public assisting the police in such cases because marijuana is a dangerous drug and is illegal to grow, possess and sell,” adds PPC Apaesi.
Superintendent Apaesi says, “The custodial sentence if found guilty by a competent court is 10 years imprisonment and a fine ranging from $2,000 - $100,000.00. People should instead help get rid of this dangerous drug.”
