Police arrest three suspect in Choiseul Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Taro Police Station in Choiseul Province arrested three individuals suspected of stealing at a primary school in East Choiseul last year (2024).
Choiseul Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Superintendent Berry Pogesopa, said in 2024, during a school break, there was a break-in at a school in East Choiseul.
During the break-in, a teacher’s house on the school premises was targeted. Valuable school properties, including an N70 battery, were stolen in this break-in.
When school resumes after the break, the teacher (victim) found out that a break-in has targeted the house. The teacher reported that a number of belongings and school properties were robbed. The teacher reported to the police.
The matter surfaced when in individual sold the stolen battery to a friend.
Upon learning of the sell, police conducted a thorough investigation leading to the arrest of three men. The suspects were charged with the intent to commit a felony, contrary to section 300(a) of the Penal Code.
The suspects were later released on bail and will appear before the Taro Magistrate Court at a later date.
Police investigation into the matter is ongoing and already the stolen battery has been recovered.
