Drunk husband arrested for domestic violence in Isabel province
Police in Buala have arrested a drunk husband in his 60s for kicking his 57-year-old wife at Sipa village early this month.
It was alleged that the husband kicked his wife and later pulled out a small kitchen knife and threatened to stab her. The wife struggles to release herself from her husband and sustains an injury on her right hand.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Isabel Province, Inspector Harry Vanosi, said the husband, who was under the influence of alcohol, had an argument with his wife over gardening matters.
PPC Vanosi said Buala police and the relatives of the victim assist her for medical treatment at Buala hospital, and her condition is stable.
Inspector Vanosi said all court documents have been prepared for the suspect to face his trial at Tatamba on the court circuit schedule on 28 April 2025.
Mr Vanosi said, “This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated by police, and I call on both parties not to take the laws into their own hands but to allow the police to deal with the matter. The matter is now with the police, and I urge everyone to calm down."
