NCPD and CPLT officers conducts community engagement at schools and communities in Western Province

Community Policing Event in Fishing Villege

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) and China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) have successfully completed four days of awareness talks at schools and communities in Western Province.

NCPD and CPLT officers visited five schools, including Reginald Chapman Nicholson College, Goldie College and Ringi School.

Students were taught and informed of the Five Drivers of Crime: Illegal Alcohol and Drugs, Family Violence, Issues Affecting Youth, Resources and Environment and Emerging Issues, and Offences and Their Penalties.

Talks on cyber safety were also delivered during the awareness programme. The engagement received positive feedback from students, teachers and communities, highlighting the importance of such initiatives for a safer community.

The team also visited the Nasubaruka community, where people of all ages came along to listen to NCPD awareness talks and CPLT's introduction to China’s Fengqiao experience in grassroots governance, emphasising collaborative policing and community participation.

During the visits, the CPLT gifted communities and schools with solar equipment, sports gear and other supplies that will benefit over hundreds of residents.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Superintendent Wilken Miriki, thanked both the NCPD and CPLT for visiting schools and communities to conduct awareness talks, gift supplies, and interact with them.

The team carried out a series of productive law enforcement cooperation and cultural exchange activities. The initiative represents a significant step in implementing the consensus reached by leaders of both countries and further deepening practical cooperation in policing and security.
