RSIPF EODD delivers world class training on UXOs

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has finished delivering world-class Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) training to international partners.

The International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) EOD Level 2 course was conducted at Hells Point for 9 weeks for students from the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) and Papua New Guinea Defence Force, Nauru Police, and RSIPF.

Supervising Director, EODD Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Peter Ririvere said the training allows the students to identify, move, and dispose of unexploded explosive ordnance (UXO’s) with explosives.

SSgt Ririvere said

this course was delivered by the newly formed RSIPF EOD training team, who also partnered with the Australian Defence Force EOD training team.

Mr. Ririvere said the RSIPF EOD Department continues to be the regional leader in all matters on EOD. This is evidenced through this training, which increases capability and partnership in the region.
