RAPPP launches ‘Shoes On’ fitness initiative for RSIPF Officers

The Health, Wellbeing & Community Engagement (HWCE) project, delivered under the RSIPF & AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), has launched a new fitness initiative titled ‘Shoes On’ to support the wellbeing of RSIPF officers.

Launched on 3 June 2025, the initiative invites RSIPF officers to register for the gym located at Rove Police Headquarters, managed under the HWCE project.

Participants commit to a 21-day beginner cardio program aimed at building healthy habits and improving fitness for operational readiness.

To support their efforts, the project provides participating officers with new gym shoes and training gear. Officers who complete the full 21-day program will keep the gear they receive.

The first cohort of 13 female officers began the challenge on 4 June 2025, marking the start of a phased rollout that will later include male officers.

RAPPP-contracted fitness trainer Hency Charles said the initiative is designed to embed fitness into the daily routine of officers, highlighting that physical readiness is essential for policing duties.

“By equipping RSIPF officers with the right gear, we aim to boost morale and confidence, enhance their workouts, and encourage teamwork. It’s about creating a culture of fitness,” Hency said.

RAPPP Superintendent Adam McCormack praised the initiative, saying, “The ‘Shoes On’ program reflects RSIPF’s commitment to the strength and well-being of its officers. Supporting female officers to prioritize their physical fitness is part of building a more resilient, confident, and empowered police force.”
