Police investigate brutal attack in west Fataleka
The Auki Police are investigating a brutal attack that occurred recently at Taeloa Village in west Fataleka, where a 36-year-old male suspect allegedly cut off the left leg of a 30-year-old male victim with a 26-inch bush knife.
According to initial reports, the attack happened after the suspect demanded compensation from the victim over chickens roaming inside the suspect's food garden.
It is alleged that the victim was inside his kitchen with his wife when all of a sudden, the suspect, armed with a 26-inch bush knife, entered without warning and struck the victim with the bush knife.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province Superintendent Michael Ramosaea said, “The suspect attacked the victim and escaped.
PPC Ramosaea said, “The victim was rushed to Fauabu clinic and later to Kilufii Hospital, and they referred him to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) due to the seriousness of the wounds sustained.”
Superintendent Ramosaea called on the community leaders, church leaders, chiefs, and relatives of the suspect to assist police in surrendering the suspect to Auki police.
Mr. Ramosaea called for both parties to stay calm while police deal with the matter.
