Police Maritime of the RSIPF receive six new aluminum longboats

Australia's Chief of Defence Force Admiral David AC RAN formally hand over the aluminium longboats to CoP Mostyn Mangau

The police maritime of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) received six aluminum longboats on 7 July at the Aola base in Honiara.

The delivery of this vessel, made possible under the Australian Defence Cooperation Program, is a clear demonstration of Australia’s steadfast commitment to strengthening RSIPF’s capabilities and supporting maritime law enforcement and security in our country.

This aluminum longboat will greatly enhance the RSIPF operational readiness. It will play a crucial role in supporting deployments, delivering logistical aid to provincial police posts, and facilitating rapid response efforts within our maritime domain.

Whether it be during search and rescue, natural disasters, border operations, or community outreach and crime prevention programs, this versatile vessel will be instrumental in expanding our presence and response across the archipelago and our remote islands.

This latest contribution joins a series of generous assistance measures, including the Guardian-class patrol boats, infrastructure improvements, and long-term capacity-building programs. Each of these contributions has significantly advanced the professionalism, efficiency, and reach of RSIPF, especially the police maritime.

Supervising Director Superintendent Nevol Soko said the gift represents more than the transfer of a valuable maritime asset. It stands as a testament to the enduring partnership and deep mutual respect between the Solomon Islands and the government and people of Australia.

“To the men and women of the RSIPF, this occasion should remind us of the trust placed in our hands. Let us take pride in this milestone and remain committed to upholding the highest standards of discipline, integrity, and professionalism in every mission we undertake,” said Mr. Soko.
