Police step-up security for the Solomon Cup 2025

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will step up its security operation for the Solomon Cup 2025 semi and grand final.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo, said a good number of police officers will be deployed to the game’s venue for the semi- and grand final with support from Rove police headquarters.

PPC Robo said this also includes the Central Response Unit (CRU) and Police Response Team (PRT) to provide an outer cordon during the games. The National Traffic Department will also form part of the operation, but they will work on their own Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

“I just want to make it clear here that any decision about the games is not going to involve the police. The responsibility for game-related decisions rests solely with the organizing committee, not the police. Let the Solomon Island Football Federation (SIFF) deal with it. Police only provide security for the smooth run of the games,” said Robo.

Chief Superintendent Robo appeals to sport-loving people to come and give moral support to our teams with the spirit of sportsmanship. We are a sport-loving people. Come and give support but with a spirit of sportsmanship.

“Remember! Police will be in full force during the semi- and grand finals. Do not try to disturb the game. Anyone who disturbs the game police will have the full force of the law used to deal with them. Police will be doing checking at the entries, and try not to bring weapons or sharp objects to the game’s venue. Your valuable items should be kept at home, ”Mr. Robo.

Axes, scissors, broken glasses, screwdrivers, kitchen knives, and body perfume are not allowed in the game’s venue.
