Police train on how to investigate cyber security challenges

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Central Police Station were trained on how to investigate cybersecurity challenges recently.

Assistant Commissioner of National Capital and Crime Prevention (NCCP) Mr. Simpson Pogeava said the training has been conducted by the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) to provide basic knowledge of cyber security issues.

The training focuses on basic knowledge of computer networks, types of cybercrimes, common investigation ideas for cybercrimes, explanations of practical cases, preservation, collection of digital evidence, common prevention methods for cybercrimes, and how to reduce the cyber risks of individuals and organizations,” said AC Pogeava.

The participants said the training broadened their knowledge and understanding of cybersecurity. It improves their skills in investigating cybercrimes, which enhances their ability to deal with new types of criminal challenges.
