Youths arrested for playing loud music late night and threatening community leaders in Malaita

Auki police arrested eight youths for playing loud music late at night and threatening community leaders at Ambu and Kokomu in Malaita province on 17 August 2025.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Malaita Province, said, “Three suspects are female among the eight arrested, and they are all placed in police custody.”

Supervising PPC Ramosaea said, “The suspects were drunk, used abusive words, and acted aggressively, challenging the community leaders for a fight.”

PPC Ramosaea said, “These youths are the ones who are involved in causing nuisance and drinking alcohol with very loud noises and threatening the community peace at times with bad behaviors.

Superintendent Ramosaea said, “The suspects were released after they had been charged with the offense of intimidation contrary to section 231 of the penal code. They will appear before the Auki Magistrates’ Court on 25 August 2025.”

“This is not good behavior in our communities. I appeal to the good community leaders of Malaita Province to work together with the police to reduce such antisocial behaviors in our communities,” said PPC Ramosaea.
