New Forward Command Post Boosts RSIPF’s Event Readiness
Standing PPC Honiara City Mr. Jimson Robo gave his remarks during the program.
The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF), with support from the RSIPF–Australian Federal Police (AFP) Partnership Program (RAPPP), recently opened a modern Police Forward Command Post (PFCP) at the Honiara Central Police Station.
The new, purpose-built facility will serve as the hub for coordinating police operations during major national and international events, including the upcoming Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting next week.
Designed to strengthen command, control, and coordination, the PFCP enhances RSIPF’s ability to monitor operations, allocate resources effectively, and respond rapidly to emergencies and large-scale incidents. When not in operational use, the space doubles as a professional development center, with capacity for up to 30 officers.
At the handover ceremony, RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau expressed gratitude to RAPPP.
Commissioner Mangau said, “This facility demonstrates our shared commitment to public safety, accountability, and community trust. With the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting fast approaching, the timing of this upgrade could not be better. RAPPP’s support ensures RSIPF is ready to manage critical incidents and safeguard our communities.”
RAPPP Commander Hall O’Meagher highlighted how the new command post builds on recent training initiatives.
He said this upgrade reflects RAPPP’s ongoing commitment to strengthening RSIPF’s emergency response capability. The facility complements the Command, Control, and Coordination training delivered earlier this year and ensures RSIPF can act with agility and confidence during major events.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo, said, “This gift stands as a reminder of the strong partnership between RSIPF and RAPPP, supporting frontline policing today and ensuring its continued effectiveness into the future.”
This new facility underscores the growing partnership between the RSIPF and AFP, reinforcing our shared commitment to effective policing and community safety.
