Police arrests 18 suspects in Noro and Munda on Friday night
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Noro have arrested 18 suspects during an operation mounted on Friday night.
Operation Commander in Western Province, Supervising Deputy Commissioner (DC) Operations Mr. Mathias Lenialu said the suspects had been arrested during foot beat patrol and mobile patrol in Noro and Munda.
Commander Lenialu said areas were covered during the operation on Friday night at Noro and Munda Road. A total of 17 suspects were arrested from Munda alone, while in Noro there was only one suspect.
Supervising DC Ops, Mr. Laenialu said, “Eight suspects were arrested on alcohol-related matters, six suspects for common nuisance, and four suspects on traffic-related matters.
"The arrests make it very clear to our people that police are stepping up security, as we will be having a day retreat here in Noro next week.
I appeal to our good people in Noro and Munda to be good, law-abiding citizens,” said Operation Commander Mr. Lenialau.
He emphasized the importance of community cooperation in maintaining peace during the upcoming retreat.
