05 PB Gizo in Noro to support the police operation in Western Province for the PIFL retreat next week

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Vessel (RSIPV) Patrol Boat (PB) 05 Gizo is in Noro, Western Province, to support the Pacific Island Forum Leaders (PIFL) police operation for the retreat in Noro next week.

The RSIPV will provide security support in the Western waters and collaborate with other speed crafts assigned to the operation ahead of the arrival of the high-level delegation for the retreat.

Deputy Director of Maritime Police, Inspector Kornelius Choniey, said, “RSIPF BP here is crucial as it is designated to serve as the second emergency evacuation platform and to oversee the Western waters during the PIFL retreat.

Operation Commander in Western Province, Supervising Deputy Commissioner (DC) Operations Mr. Mathias Lenialu said, “Regarding security alertness and national security for the Solomon Islands, it is our duty to prioritize every day.

DC Operation Mr. Lenialu said, “The PIFL operation for the retreat is very important, especially considering the high-level delegation. It is our responsibility to carry out our duties professionally.”

Commander added, “The arrival of the RSIPV Gizo is significant, as it will enhance police capabilities regarding security in Western Province, particularly in monitoring where the delegation will be staying and their movements at sea during their visit.”

DC Lenialu expressed confidence in the operation, stating, “With the number of officers currently on the ground, I am confident that this operation will be conducted safely.”

The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to community and church leaders in Munda and Noro to work together to maintain a safe and peaceful environment as we prepare for the arrival of the high-level delegations.
