Three PCs promoted to the rank of Sergeant
Corrine Kuibae receives her promotion certificate from AC Provincial Mr Tex Tafoa
Three Police Constables (PCs) from Auki Police in Malaita Province were promoted to the rank of Sergeant (Sgt) over the weekend.
These officers were promoted on the basis of merit-based performance management processes and recommendations from their Provincial Police Commander (PPC).
Police Constable Billy Lui, who works as a frontline officer; Jean Wawane, who works as an officer in charge of the domestic violence unit; and Corrine Kuibae, who works at the traffic unit in Auki.
Speaking during the promotion ceremony, Supervising Assistant Commissioner (AC) Provincial Policing Mr Tex Tafoa said these three officers proved their leadership capability, though they are police constables.
AC Tafoa said they show willingness to take up leadership and supervisory responsibilities in the absence of their supervisors. Promotion comes with higher responsibilities and expectations.
Mr Tafoa said leadership is about taking the lead, influence and mentoring your team. To become an effective leader, you must be a role model in your workplace.
“Encourage other constables who are wishing to take another step to unveil their leadership potential and show their identity as potential future leaders of the RSIPF,” he said.
In response to the AC's advice, a newly promoted Sgt Billy Lui thanks the AC provincial and those who are behind the scenes who contribute to their promotion.
He also assured Mr Tafoa that they will do their best to assist their PPC and other Heads of Divisions to achieve the RSIPF Strategic Direction goals.
