The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EODD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has removed a 226 kg bomb from the newly proposed Taro township recently.

Supervising Director EODD, Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Peter Ririvere, said the bomb has been removed to a safe location, waiting for the next operation for safe demolition.

Supervising Director EODD Mr Ririvere said this is the third similar bomb that has been found on the same location in the Taro new township for this year alone.

Director Ririvere said the team also spent days in the Western Province removing over 200 bombs from different areas around Munda.

These have all been moved to a safe location and will be disposed of in a further operation.

The EODD is thankful for the communities in reporting these bombs and cooperating during these operations. Please remember, “Don’t touch bombs, as they can be fatal,” and continue to report these to the RSIPF-EODD on 7495214/7495215 or 999 in an emergency.
