The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), with support from the RSIPF and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), has successfully completed a five-week Close Personal Protection (CPP) Train-the-Trainer (TOT) program.

The training has strengthened the skills, professionalism, and teaching abilities of RSIPF CPP instructors.

The Advisor to the RSIPF CPP Training Program plays an important role in guiding instructors to ensure they deliver high-quality training to all RSIPF members. The TOT CPP Program gives selected officers the chance to demonstrate their knowledge and skills and to teach CPP methods during Skills Maintenance Programs (SMPs) and CPP Basic Courses.

RAPPP Advisor Dave Thatcher said, "A good CPP instructor not only has strong technical knowledge and skills but also shows patience, empathy, clear communication, adaptability, preparedness, professionalism, and passion for the subject. Great instructors build confidence in their students, lead by example, show respect, and create a positive learning environment that encourages growth, discipline, and ongoing improvement."

He added that these qualities are key to ensuring the instructors can develop the next generation of highly skilled RSIPF CPP officers.

Assistant Commissioner (AC), National Operations, Mr Francis Ramoni said, "This Train-the-Trainer CPP Program reflects our commitment to ensuring RSIPF officers are not only technically skilled but also confident and professional instructors. Our members can now deliver training that meets the highest standards of CPP."

AC Ramoni emphasised that building confidence and professionalism in instructors is essential for maintaining high standards in CPP training across all RSIPF programmes.

"The programme equips our officers to assess risks thoroughly, plan secure operations, and collaborate effectively with teams and agencies. This ensures that the principals they protect receive the highest level of safety and security,” said Mr Ramoni.

During the programme, participants learnt to understand protection requirements, follow legal and RSIPF policies, assess potential threats, and plan secure routes. They also learnt to work with other teams and agencies to develop coordinated operational plans for CPP.

The successful completion of this five-week TOT CPP Program, supported by RAPPP, ensures that RSIPF instructors are well-prepared to deliver high-quality training and maintain professional CPP standards.

This achievement strengthens the skills and readiness of RSIPF personnel, contributing to safer communities across the Solomon Islands.
