AFP’s SDE team undertook a consultation review programme in Honiara

AFP members Talia Quinn and Debbie McGowan with RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau and Chief of Staff Laisalyn Mua.

Four members from the Australian Federal Police's (AFP's) Strategy, Design and Evaluation (SDE) team and officers from the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have undertaken two weeks of consultations and program review in Honiara.

From 27 October to 7 November, a joint Design and Evaluation Team comprising two RSIPF Strategic Planning and Policy officers, Sergeant Gorethy Teku and Sergeant Nancy Piasi, and four members from the AFP’s Strategy, Design and Evaluation (SDE) engaged in the review programme.

Throughout the consultation programme, the team engaged with representatives across RSIPF portfolios, the Solomon Islands Government, and key partners to gather diverse perspectives and insights.

To ensure the policing partnership programme continues to evolve and align with the RSIPF Strategic Direction 2026–2036 and the Solomon Islands National Security Strategy, the outcomes of the consultation and review will be incorporated in the design of RAPPP moving forward.

Sergeant Dorothy Teku and Nancy Piasi, who recently completed monitoring and evaluation training in Canberra, Australia, contributed valuable expertise and insight from their involvement in developing the RSIPF Strategic Direction 2026–2036.

The collaborative work of the joint Design and Evaluation team will directly support RSIPF’s strategic priorities and Solomon Islands’ broader national security objectives, while maintaining an inclusive and collaborative design process.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr Mostyn Mangau said, “I express my sincere thanks to the AFP’s SDE team and our RAPPP colleagues for their unwavering commitment and collaborative approach ensuring ongoing alignment to RSIPF priorities.

Commissioner Mangau said, “Together, RSIPF and RAPPP will continue to foster a police-to-police partnership that is dedicated to providing capability and investment enhancements across priority areas of the RSIPF in order to combat current and future criminal and security threats across the Pacific region.”

The RSIPF and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) have a long and ongoing partnership serving the community.

The RSIPF-AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) is a police-led program that focuses on supporting RSIPF to address the threat of crime in the Solomon Islands and the Pacific.

The RSIPF and RAPPP are working side-by-side to ensure the Partnership remains accountable, transparent and responsive to the needs of the RSIPF and the people of the Solomon Islands.
