The National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) and the China Police Liaison Team hosted a three-day training on crime prevention for 11 communities in Honiara and Guadalcanal recently.

A total of 39 Crime Prevention Committee members from different communities in Honiara and Guadalcanal participated in the training that has been held at St. Alban Anglican Church in West Honiara.

The training is a landmark collaboration that focused on enhancing community safety governance for the CPC members to manage their communities as they prepare for the Christmas festivity. The RSIPF CPLT shared its expertise and insights on community crime prevention strategies tailored to the local context.

Supervising Director of the NCPD, Inspector Steve Sunaone, said the aim of this training is to address specific gaps in grassroots safety governance, with a focus on building a strong, professional network of community crime prevention teams.

Supervising Director of NCPD Sunaone said the course covered six key areas, including strategic planning, functional standards, and conflict resolution, offering a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills to enhance the capabilities of local community leaders.

Director Sunaone said to describe the training as a breakthrough for China-Solomon Islands police cooperation. The valuable community governance experience shared by the CPLT is instrumental in advancing the Solomon Islands’ efforts to improve community safety and governance.

The successful execution of this joint training not only marked a key milestone in the evolution of China-Solomon Islands police cooperation but also highlighted the growing partnership between the two nations in fostering a safer and more secure community environment.
