The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), supported by the partnership with the Australian Federal Police (AFP), has successfully delivered its first Sergeants Level Leadership and Management Development Program.
Officers from Honiara and the provinces came together to strengthen their leadership knowledge, management skills, and professional capabilities.
The program is the first to be delivered under the newly endorsed Career and Leadership Development Framework (CLDF), which provides structured career development, mentoring, and a fair, evidence-based promotions process.
Over two weeks, participants engaged in activities covering leadership theory, decision-making, communication, mentoring, teamwork, and computer-based management skills.
The program was facilitated by RSIPF officers Staff Sergeant McNichol, Sergeant Harry Fititei, and Sergeant Rineta Vavasau, who guided participants through practical exercises and team-based problem solving.
The closing ceremony recognized individual achievement and highlighted the ongoing partnership between the RSIPF and the AFP in strengthening leadership within the force through the RAPPP.
This program marks a significant step in developing the next generation of RSIPF leaders, equipping officers with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to serve their communities effectively across the Solomon Islands.
RSIPF Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Corporate Support Mr. Stanley Riolo said, "This program gives you structured and fair support for career progression. I encourage you to engage fully and give feedback to make it even better."
AC Riolo said, "You’ve shown dedication and grown in critical leadership skills. Congratulations, and thank you to RAPPP and the Learning & Development Academy for supporting this program."
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) Superintendent Dave Williams encouraged officers to fully engage in the program.
Superintendent Williams said, "This program helps you become the best leaders and managers you can be. Approach it with curiosity, share experiences, and think about how you can apply these skills in your work. Together, we are building RSIPF’s leadership, one officer at a time."
Superintendent Williams congratulated the participants and said,
"You’ve built new skills in leadership, decision-making, communication, and management. This is just the first step in your leadership journey; well done to you all."
The closing ceremony was a highlight for participants, officers, and facilitators. Certificates were proudly presented, followed by a celebratory cake-cutting. Officers shared in the joy of completing the program and expressed gratitude for the learning experience.
