Man arrested and charged for multiple assault incidents in Isabel province
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Buala have arrested a 42-year-old male person for assault and threatening violence incidents at Tausese village in Isabel Province recently.
The first incident involved the suspect threatening to harm a female and her family, forcing them to flee the village out of fear for their lives. After the incident, the family has been living in their garden to hide from the suspect, who allegedly continued to threaten them up until 2026.
The second incident involved a person with a disability. At the time, the victim was working in his garden when the suspect allegedly approached him aggressively and assaulted him.
The third incident involved a 49-year-old man who was sitting with his wife and another couple, having a few beers, when the suspect allegedly approached him aggressively and punched him in the face.
The final incident involved a 15-year-old boy who was telling stories with other children when the suspect allegedly approached and punched him in the face.
These incidents raised serious concern among village elders, who attempted to resolve the matter but were unable to do so, as the suspect continued to victimize innocent people and pose a threat to the community.
The matter was reported to police, and the suspect was arrested. The suspect has now been charged with one count of threatening violence, contrary to Section 89 of the Penal Code, and three counts of common assault, contrary to Section 244 of the Penal Code.
The suspect has been remanded in custody for 14 days at the Rove Correctional Centre to his court appearance on a later date.
