RSIPF warns residents of the Aekafo and Gilbert Camp area of a render-safe operation.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will be conducting a Render Safe Procedure (RSP) operation on one of the live bombs discovered at Aekafo, Gilbert Camp area, in east Honiara.

Supervising Director, EOD Department, Senior Sergeant (SSgt) Peter Ririvere says, “The task will be active from 9am to 1pm on the 24th of February, 2026.”

SSgt Ririvere says, “Workers, farmers, and the general public living in and around Aekafo, April Valley, and the surrounding areas are kindly warned to keep out of the area while the operation is in progress. Safe evacuations of people and roadblocks will be enforced within these areas.”

Supervising Director Ririvere says, "The operation will be carried out only on the specified date and times.

The communities are urged to cooperate with the police to ensure the operation is conducted safely and completed in a timely manner."

Supervising Director Ririvere advises the public to continue reporting any sightings of unexploded bombs by calling the Police toll-free number 999 or the RSIPF EOD mobile number 7495215 or by reporting to the nearest police station."
