One of the main stakeholders of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), Seif Ples today hosted an open house program as part of their activities in the 16 days of Activism with the theme, “From peace in the home to peace in the world.”
Seif Ples Clinic is offering a place of safety and access to urgent medical care for survivors of violence. The centre which operates 24 hours 7 days a week takes calls from the 132 Hotline and receives clients at all hours of the day and night. The goal in every interaction with clients is to offer safety, respect, confidentiality and non-discrimination while creating great health and justice outcomes.
The program was attended by advocates and other stake holders of Seif Ples and the key note speaker was Ms Crispin Dora from the Ministry of Education.
Speaking at the opening program, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services, who is also the chairperson of Seif Ples, Ms Karen Galokale says “today is special because it is the only day of the year that Seif Ples opens for the public.”
She added: “Our goal for 2017 was to continue to build awareness and advocate for an end to all forms of gender based violence, not only to campaign but also to eradicate once and for all.”
The key note speaker at the program, Ms Crispin Dora says, “Our country needs strong collaboration in working together. We have different ministries who played vital roles and responsibilities to ensure that all human beings both male and female have a sense of ownership and belonging to this country. Therefore we need to work together.”
As part of the 16-day activism against gender violence, which ends on 10 December, the RSIPF National Community Policing assisted stake holders by conducting awareness talks visiting schools and churches and even public market areas to educate members of the public about the Family Protection Act.
