RSIPF and RAPPP Strengthen Community Engagement at St. Peters Community, Papaho

The RSIPF, in partnership with RAPPP, conducted a community engagement visit to St Peters Community in Papaho, reinforcing community policing efforts and strengthening collaboration with local residents.

The visit focused on raising awareness of community policing, crime prevention, and shared responsibility for maintaining peace and security. RSIPF officers engaged directly with community members, encouraging active participation in reporting incidents, supporting law enforcement efforts, and promoting positive behaviour within families and the wider community.

As part of the visit, sporting equipment was donated to support youth development and encourage constructive activities for young people. Children also received clothing items donated from Australian charity Uniform 4 Kids, which repurposes former policing uniforms into clothing, bags, and school supplies for children.

The program also included the gifting of a portable command post from RAPPP to RSIPF’s National Emergency Management and Special Events Planning (NEMSEP) team. The portable command post was received by Inspector Jamie Hagaria on behalf of NEMSEP and will support improved coordination, enable greater outreach to communities, and provide a visible platform for community members to raise concerns and have their issues heard.

Community elder Mr Brunox Eadu welcomed the visit, noting that crime remains a concern within the community and that direct engagement with police is highly valued. ,

He thanked RSIPF and RAPPP for taking the initiative to visit the community and provide meaningful support.

Youth representative Ms Doreen Teilo also expressed her appreciation, describing the visit as timely and necessary. She highlighted that while families live closely together, crime continues to affect the community. Ms Teilo thanked RAPPP for donating the sporting equipment, noting that such support helps keep young people engaged in positive activities and away from negative influences. She also acknowledged the team’s commitment to visiting and supporting the community.

This engagement reflects the continued partnership between RSIPF and RAPPP in promoting community safety through collaboration, dialogue, and practical support aimed at building safer communities.
