The women of the RSIPF, supported by the RSIPF and the AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), marked International Women’s Day (IWD) through a series of inspiring activities celebrating empowerment, teamwork, and community engagement.
The celebrations began with an adventurous hike to Visale Hill, organized by the Health and Wellness Community Engagement (HWCE) team and fully supported by RAPPP. The hike showed the strength, teamwork, and determination of RSIPF women, reflecting the achievements women continue to make in policing and leadership.
As part of the two-day IWD program, RSIPF women joined the community march alongside RAPPP advisors, executives, and locally engaged contractors, demonstrating their shared pride and commitment to serving the Solomon Islands community.
RSIPF Gender Coordinator Sergeant Faye Siapu said International Women’s Day was an important opportunity to recognize women’s contributions and encourage future generations.
“International Women’s Day reminds us of the important role women play in policing and in inspiring more women and girls to serve. RSIPF sincerely thanks RAPPP for their continued support of the Women’s Advisory Network and for assisting RSIPF's participation in these celebrations.”
Acting AFP Commander Kylie Walsh highlighted the strength of the partnership between RSIPF and RAPPP.
"International Women’s Day is a celebration of women standing together, sharing strength, encouragement, and understanding, whether in policing or in the community. It is a privilege for RAPPP to walk alongside RSIPF women and be part of that sense of connection and solidarity that strengthens women across Solomon Islands and our region."
The second day of the program featured an empowering presentation by Inspector Florence Wasi, followed by vibrant cultural dance performances that reflected both the strength and spirit of RSIPF women.
Reflecting on the event, Inspector Wasi said the celebrations reinforced RSIPF’s commitment to protecting and empowering women and girls.
“Every woman and girl in the Solomon Islands deserves to live in safety, to be heard, and to pursue her future without fear.
As police officers, we are committed to upholding their rights and working with communities to ensure justice and protection for all.
Through the hike, the march, and the cultural performances, RAPPP’s support strengthened RSIPF’s health, wellness, and community engagement initiatives. Together, RSIPF and RAPPP demonstrated the power of partnership in promoting women’s empowerment, professional excellence, and community connection.
