RSIPF and Australian Partners Promote Leadership and Sport at St Joseph’s College Tenaru

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Police Response Department (PRD), together with members of the Australian Defence Force participating in Exercise Coastwatchers and the RSIPF–Australian Federal Police Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), visited St Joseph’s College Tenaru on Thursday 12 March to engage with students and promote leadership and participation in sport.

More than 600 students attended the event, where RSIPF Acting Assistant Commissioner National Operations Lionel Kapisa encouraged them to pursue leadership opportunities and remain committed to their education as a way of contributing positively to the future of Solomon Islands.

Assistant Commissioner Kapisa also highlighted the role of sport in shaping young people and developing important life skills.

“Sport teaches discipline, teamwork and resilience. These are qualities that help young people grow into responsible leaders who will contribute positively to the development of Solomon Islands,” Assistant Commissioner Kapisa said.

RSIPF PRD officers were joined by Australian partners from Exercise Coastwatchers and RAPPP, who participated in a range of sporting activities with the students.

The afternoon featured friendly games of soccer, netball, volleyball and football, creating an atmosphere of teamwork and positive engagement between officers and students. The activities concluded with shared refreshments, providing further opportunities for interaction.

Officers commended the students for their enthusiasm, respect and inclusive spirit throughout the activities.

RSIPF and its Australian partners thanked St Joseph’s College Tenaru for hosting the visit and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting youth development, community engagement and positive pathways for young people across Solomon Islands.
