Commissioner Vaevaso urges 105 new police recruits to serve with integrity and passion
New recruits during the official opening program
The Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF), Mr. Ian Vaevaso, has urged 105 new recruits to serve with integrity and passion during the official opening program today (11 May 2026) at Rove Police Headquarters.
The program was attended by the Minister of Police, National Security, and Correctional Services, Hon. Jimson Fiau Tanangada; RSIPF executives; and security partners.
The RSIPF commissioner, in his remarks, urged each of the recruits to make use of the golden opportunity that they have been given to be selected as a police recruit and to ensure this opportunity does not slip away. Take this opportunity with seriousness. Bear in mind that the RSIPF should not be seen or treated as an organization for seeking employment. I hope that kind of mentality is not what drives you to join the RSIPF.
Mr. Vaevaso expects each of you to be someone who has decided to join the RSIPF with a vision and a positive and nationalistic (patriotic) mindset, and that is to serve the government and the people of our beloved country, the Solomon Islands, with integrity and passion.
He said to reciprocate that support, you have to demonstrate your duties and responsibilities as police officers by faithfully and diligently serving your communities, government, and the people of the Solomon Islands with professionalism and respect after completing your training at the Police Academy. This is what it was expected of us, because we were employed by people, and the police force belongs to our people.
The RSIPF Recruit Program is meticulously designed to cultivate a new generation of constables who possess a high level of knowledge, professionalism, and integrity, as well as an unwavering commitment to honesty in all aspects of policing.
This program not only aims to enhance individual skills but also seeks to instill a strong ethical foundation that will guide recruits throughout their careers in law enforcement. Professionalism must define us. Integrity must guide us. Accountability must be non-negotiable. Professionalism is not only about skills. It is about character.
The Recruitment Training Program is inclusive, featuring representation from all provinces within the Solomon Islands, ensuring a fair and equitable selection process for candidates from all nine provinces, including Honiara.
This diversity is integral to fostering a police force that reflects the communities they serve, promoting trust and cooperation between law enforcement and the public.
“I am pleased to confirm that a total of 105 recruits have successfully turned up for this comprehensive course, comprising 70 males and 35 females. Each of these individuals has undergone a rigorous formal recruitment selection process, demonstrating their commitment and suitability for a career in policing, and has ultimately earned their place in this esteemed program,” said Mr. Vaevaso.
