A 19-year-old male person was remanded after cutting his cousin brother with a bush knife in Malaita province.
A remand application has been granted to Auki police to remand a 19-year-old male person for cutting his cousin brother with a bush knife at Dala South in West Kwara’ae recently.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) of Malaita Province, Superintendent Michael Ramosaea, said it was alleged that the suspect cut the victim on the right side of his neck while the deceased was lighting a fire in the kitchen.
"Later, when the victim fell on the ground, the suspect continued to strike him with the bush knife on other parts of his body,” PPC Ramosaea said.
Superintendent Ramosaea said the deceased rushed to Kilufii Hospital and later died due to multiple injuries sustained.
Mr Ramosaea said, according to information received from the community, it was alleged that the suspect had taken marijuana for quite some time.
Auki police responded on the day of the incident and arrested the suspect and placed him in police custody.
The suspect has been charged with murder contrary to section 200 of the penal code. The suspect is now remanded at Auki Correctional Facility.
