A three-day training for women in policing concluded in Honiara

A three-day training on Women, Peace & Security in Policing for Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands concluded this afternoon (30 July 2026) in Honiara.
During the closing ceremony, Pacific Community for Law Enforcement Cooperation (PCLEC) National Coordinator of the Solomon Islands, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Corporate Support Mr Stanley Riolo, said this training has provided an opportunity for our junior female officers about women in policing.
PCLEC National Coordinator AC Riolo said this will help them to engage in understanding key gender concepts, applying a gender perspective to policing and building confidence in public speaking skills.
AC Riolo said the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force has been pleased to host participants from our own organisation, along with others across the region – Fiji, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu.
“I am extremely pleased that this training has been designed and delivered ‘by the Pacific, for the Pacific’, said Mr Riolo.
He said not only have we had regional participants, but also our regional facilitators from the Cook Islands, Fiji and here in the Solomon Islands have created a unique programme for our Pacific female voices to be heard.
The National Coordinator AC Riolo thanked the PCLEC and the Australian Federal Police International Gender Team for the support rendered for such a programme.
