RSIPF officers promoted to the rank of Sgt and SSgt

A total of 25 officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have been promoted to the Sergeant (Sgt) and Senior Sergeant (SSgt) ranks during a promotion ceremony held at Rove Police Headquarters on 28 August 2026.

The promotion is the result of an internal, merit-based promotion process conducted across the RSIPF which recognised officers who have demonstrated the required level of competence, leadership, experience, performance and commitment to the organisation.

The promotions are made under the powers vested in the Commissioner of Police pursuant to Section 36(1) of the Police Act, which states, “The Commissioner may, subject to this Part, make promotions in respect of all police officers below the rank of Inspector.”

Acting Commissioner RSIPF Mr James Aitorea, during his brief remarks, said promotion brings responsibility and reminds them that promotion is not simply about a new rank or position—it comes with greater responsibility, accountability and expectations.

Acting Commissioner Mr Aitorea encouraged newly promoted officers to demonstrate integrity, discipline, professionalism, fairness and respect. Officers working under your command will look to you as a role model.

Commissioner Aitorea said, “Effective leaders support, listen and develop the officers under their command. Your conduct, decisions and leadership directly influence the public’s confidence in the organisation."

He encourages newly promoted officers to make sound decisions, take responsibility, continue learning and seek guidance when faced with difficult situations. As promoted officers, you now have an important role in maintaining standards, strengthening teamwork and supporting the organisation’s direction and objectives.

The new acting police chief challenges newly promoted officers to make their promotion meaningful—not only for themselves, but also for the officers they lead and the communities they serve.

SSgt Simaruth Loe, a newly promoted officer and spokesperson on behalf of the newly promoted officers, said,

"We want to express our deepest gratitude to the police executive. Thank you for your rigorous evaluation, your trust, and your decision to elevate us to these ranks.”

“We know that leadership positions are not handed out lightly. Your endorsement today is a profound vote of confidence in our abilities, and we are deeply grateful for this recognition,” said SSgt Loe.

She said the promotion is a well-deserved milestone for every single one of us. We have proven our dedication to public safety and to the core values of the RSIPF organisation.
