Mask men gain entry, assault a Chinese national and escape with huge cash

Police are investigating a serious incident involving masked men who entered a shop in White River and assaulted a Chinese national and escaped with a huge cash of money on 22 August 2026.

The initial report stated that a number of masked suspects gained entry to the shop through the rear door of the shop and attacked the victim, striking him on the forehead with a weapon before fleeing the scene with the cash.

The victim sustained injuries during the incident and was transported to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) for medical treatment.

Following an investigation, two male suspects have been arrested, and police recovered SBD $18,000, which investigators believe may be connected to the robbery.

Investigation into the attempted murder and robbery is ongoing, and police are looking for other suspects who are still at large.

One person of interest is understood to be a foreign national from Papua New Guinea and is known to police in connection with previous alleged offences.

Police are appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or seen any suspicious activity around XX Store at White River on the day of the incident to come forward or contact White River Police on phone 21363.
