Commissioner Aitorea pays tribute to the late PC Manele during the send-off service at Tanagai Parish

Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Mr James Aitorea pays tribute to the late Police Constable (PC) Bonaventure Manele during a send-off service at Tanagai Parish on 16 September 2026.

In his tribute remarks, Commissioner Aitorea expresses with an emotional gesture to the family of the late Manele that no words can truly ease the pain of losing a husband and father.

Commissioner Aitorea said, 'Relatives, friends, church community and colleagues, please know that you do not grieve alone.' The RSIPF stands with you during this difficult time.

Acting Commissioner Aitorea said today we mourn the loss of a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a colleague and a dedicated police officer. His years of service to the RSIPF were marked by his commitment, professionalism, and willingness to serve wherever he was needed.

“To the wife, of late Manele, Mrs Jacinta Tavuhi, and children, I extend my deepest condolences on behalf of RSIPF. Late Manele has completed his service and answered his final call,” said Commissioner Aitorea.

The acting police chief's farewell was for the late PC Manele. Your service will be remembered, and your contribution to the RSIPF and the people of the Solomon Islands will not be forgotten.

“May he rest in eternal peace. May God comfort and strengthen his family during this difficult time, and may God bless his soul. A few last words were shared by the Commissioner Aitorea.

PC Manele passed away at the National Referral Hospital on 11 September 2026 after a short illness.

Late Manele was born on 21 May 1982 and came from Pare Village, Tangarare, in West Guadalcanal. He joined the RSIPF on 16 August 2010, as a member of the Sir Peter Kenilorea Recruit Course 02/2010, and was confirmed as a PC on 13 June 2013.

The later Manele commenced his policing career, serving at Honiara City Police. After completing his probationary service, he was posted to White River Police Station as an Assistant Investigator, where he gained valuable experience investigating matters ranging from minor offences to more serious crimes.

The late police officer Manele has been recognised for his outstanding performance and dedication and is attached to different offices within the RSIPF.

His last police station of duty before he passed away was the Honiara City Police, where he performed frontline policing duties.
