ADF donates a set of sport uniforms to the team Barbarians

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) under the Defence Cooperation Programme handed over a set of soccer uniforms to team Barbarians at Rove police headquarters on 23 September 2026.

Team Barbarians is made up of soccer players from several departments inside RSIPF as well as security partners.

ADF Defence Advisor to the Solomon Islands, Captain Emma Griffiths, presents the uniform to the Chair of the football sub-committee, Superintendent Steve Sunaone, on behalf of the team.

ADF Defence Advisor Griffiths, before the presentation of the uniform, says this is a small token, but it’s great to see everyone hard-working together.

“From ADF perspectives, we learn so much working with the Solomon Islands (SI) and the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF),” says Captain Griffiths during the handing-over programme.

ADF Advisor Griffiths says she can’t wait to see how the games are going and keeps her fingers crossed for them.

The Chair of the football subcommittee, Superintendent Sunaone, says on behalf of the people of the Solomon Islands through the RSIPF to the people of Australia through the ADF, this gesture of gift is significant in the sense that it inspires and cements the bonds between the two countries through the Defence Cooperation.

“We are grateful indeed and honoured for your genuine assistance. It may look small, but between these two countries and two people and the RSIPF organisation, it is very important, says Sunaone.

Mr Sunaone says ADF, the RSIPF & AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) and Solomon Island Police Support Program (SIPSP) are valuable partners.

He says on behalf of the team, people of SI and RSIPF, together with our partners, I would like to extend our sincere acknowledgement to the people of Australia through ADF.
