Police checked 700 vehicles during Christmas Festive Operation

Police checked 700 vehicles with six positive Random Breath Test during Christmas Festive Season Operation which begin on the 22 to 25 December 2017.

Supervising Assistant Commissioner National Capital and Crime Prevention Ms Patricia Leta says, “The checks also involved Random Breath Testing of motorist, detected, detained 13 unlicensed vehicles, dealt with unlicensed drivers and drivers detected above the prescribed level of alcohol.”

AC Leta says, “I call on the good people of Solomon Islands be reminded that Police in Honiara and Provinces will continue to be on the roads during this festive season until New Year 2018. This is to ensure that our roads and communities are safe during the festive season.”

“If you drink beer don’t drive and if you drive don’t drink alcohol,” said Ms Leta.

AC Leta further add: “Calls on the motoring public of Honiara especially vehicle owners ensure that all your vehicle documents are on hand when requested by police officers conducting vehicle checks.”

AC National Capital and Crime Prevention stated: “Vehicle Drivers also reminded to carry your valid driving license with you all the time and those with expired driving license must renew your driving licenses. Police will not tolerate breaches to anyone but will dealt with according to Traffic Act.”
