Police in Western Province will provide high visible presence during festive games

The Police in Western Province are providing high visible presence during festive activities to ensure public and community safety are maintained. One of the activities is the Honiara Gilbertese annual Christmas and New Year Festive Season volley ball tournament, which has commenced today 26th December 2017, at Titiana Village, in Gizo.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says,” My officers will provide high visible presence at the area during the entire tournament to ensure peace and order is maintained”.

“I call on the general public in Gizo, more especially players and supporters to exercise good manners during the event, and to enjoy the tournament with the spirit of harmonious Christmas”, added PPC Lenialu.

Chief Superintendent Lenialu says, “There is zero tolerance to any one chooses to take the law in his/her own hands, police will deal with it according to law”.

The police are working with the organizing committee of the tournament, Site security and community leaders to ensure the event runs smoothly and that everyone enjoys the games.

The tournament is an annual event held during the Christmas and New Year period.

The tournament will go for a week and is attended by competitive teams from various communities from Honiara, communities in Western Province in Rawaki, Kennan, Wagina, Shorthand’s as well as surrounding teams in Gizo islands will be participating during the tournament.
