Makira-Ulawa Provincial Police, today (29 December) have reported peaceful so far during Christmas celebration, since it started its operation.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “The Christmas season celebration throughout the province has been relatively calm despite few incidences been reported and attended to by the police.”
“The nonviolent celebration was a result of your hard works in engaging your community members in a more organised activities such as in church, sports and other positive social engagement, that taken place mostly in our different communities in the province,” adds PPC Sitai .
Superintendent Sitai adds, “I am pleased so far that there has not been any major problem the police face across Makira-Ulawa Province and this is because each everyone in the province understanding to maintain and assist with law and order for a safer community and enjoyable festive Christmas.”
Mr Sitai adds, “I must comment each and every one in the province including my officers for the path you have played which resulted to a peaceful festive Christmas.”
“Once again, I appeal to you all to do the same this time around, New Year (2018) is drawing close. Be reminded whatever grievance you have with others, don’t ever try to express them through alcohol as this will not bring any benefit, but rather worsen the situation. There are avenues to sort them out as police will not tolerate anyone chose to take law into own hands,” concluded Commander Sitai.
