The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) announces the promotion of 27 of its officers to Sergeant and Staff Sergeant ranks after the opportunities for promotion were advertised within the Force last year.
The promotions include four female officers, two to senior sergeant rank and two to sergeant rank. Of the male officers, 10 have been promoted to Senior Sergeant and 13 to Sergeant.
The 27 newly promoted officers will now start their six-month trial after which they will be confirmed in the positions.
“I wish to congratulate those officers who have been promoted today. Your promotion is the result of your performance, discipline and upholding the values of the RSIPF at all times. You are now expected to show leadership among your colleague officers. Leadership must start from the bottom and when you get to the top the leadership will continue,” says Supervising Commissioner of Police, Juanita Matanga.
Ms Matanga explains: “The promotions have been made following a rigorous process of shortlisting and interviews by a Panel which made recommendations for final approval by the Commissioner of Police which has the delegated powers to approve promotions below the rank of Inspector under the Police Act 2013.”
Some of the newly promoted police officers received their promotion letters during the weekly first Commissioner’s parade for 2018 at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara today. The parade was followed by the first Interfaith Service for 2018.
